FLOE

What's your name? How did you get started?

FLOE! Family & Loyalty Over Everything. I was born in Enugu, Nigeria then moved to New York as a baby. I've been living in Atlanta for years now so this has become home. I grew up with music from different genres from Abba to Jay-Z to Gorillas. Music has always been a part of my life in one way or another. I fell in love with Hip-Hop and started making my music with a group of friends. I love the process of creating and writing as a whole. I started taking things more seriously in 2015 after releasing my MDF project which is also available to stream on all platforms. My biggest moments for me are future goals as I want to have Grammy-nominated/winner next to my name or work on a project that garners that.

What is your experience in the music industry? Do you have any formal training or schooling? If not, are you self-taught and how did you learn your craft? What is your learning style? What are your favorite educational resources (ex. college, Youtube, etc.)?

Experience wise everything has been trial and error for us. Never had any formal training in terms of writing. That's always been something that came naturally for me. I have studied artists' past and present to understand how they think and what motivates them throughout their creative process.

What are some credits and achievements that you have? Who have you worked with? Who have you collaborated with?

I've helped artists write music and I've collaborated with various artists but have not crossed the mainstream line just yet.

Who are your biggest influences growing up and why? Who do you like to listen to now and why? Who’s on your playlist right now?

Growing up I had many influences some meant more at different points of life but if I had to narrow a few I would have to say, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Jay-Z to name a few. As far as what's currently on my Playlist I'm heavy on the Uk rap scene and afro music as of late. My Playlist consists of Young Thug, Drake, Headie One, Lil Baby to name a few.

What are some of the biggest obstacles you’ve encountered or faced in this industry?

The biggest obstacle for me is politics. In this industry it's not what you can do, how talented you are, it's about opportunities, and knowing people. That's the most challenging obstacle.

How would you describe your sound and style?

My sound is wide-ranging. I try not to limit or box myself in as an artist.

What are some of your goals this year?

Goals for me this year would've been to do a show in the UK, South America, or Africa. Covid considering hopefully this time next year this question will have a proper answer.

Who are the top 3 artists, producers, engineers, videographers, or others you would want to work with that you haven’t worked with yet?

Artists I would like to work with include Young Thug, Drake, and Burna Boy. Engineers for sure I would say Metro Booming and Boi1da are some I'd love to work with. Videographer wise I can't name too many off the top of my head but I'm into people with a keen eye for scenery and post effects.

What is your creative process like?

My creative process varies from song to song some may be quick, others may take me days just to complete a verse but I always put a lot into my work and second guess myself constantly in search of the best product.

What’s your favorite go-to order?

Wings period.
