How did you get started? Tell us your story!
My name is Lex and I go by sayitagainlexter as a producer. One day, I just decided to download FL Studio and start making music. I think this was around December 2018. I was serious about creating music from the beginning, but it was around 6-8 months in when I started to make quality music.
What is your experience in the music industry? Do you have any formal training or schooling? If not, are you self-taught and how did you learn your craft? What is your learning style? What are your favorite educational resources (ex. college, Youtube, etc.)?
I started playing guitar in 8th grade. My dad taught me; he’s also been in a band since I’ve been alive, so hearing music on a day-to-day basis at a young age really helped train my ear. YouTube has been the best tool for me because it’s enabled me to learn tips and tricks to work faster on FL. I am a big hands on learner. Trial and error is the best way for me to learn.
What are some credits and achievements that you have? Who have you worked with? Who have you collaborated with?
I have three beats on YouTube with over one thousand views, one of them being at seven thousand. I have worked with a lot of different artists like Ghosty, Rags2Riches, Pally Ray, Doug Profit, and YWN Rasta and Fang. It’s fun collaborating with different artists and it’s cool to see how everyone’s creative style blends.
Who are your biggest influences growing up and why? Who do you like to listen to now and why? Who’s on your playlist right now?
My first favorite rapper was Vanilla Ice, but I didn’t actually start consistently following rappers until 2016. My biggest influences when it comes to producers are Metro Boomin, jetsonmade, and FKi 1st. My playlist right now has a combination of Lil Uzi, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Young Thug, and Jack Harlow. What are some of the biggest obstacles you’ve encountered or faced in this industry?
The biggest obstacle for me was finding my sound. That includes getting a good mix. How would you describe your sound and style?
One word to describe my style: Bounce. What are some of your goals this year?
One of my goals is to collab with 20 total artists.
Who are the top 3 artists, producers, engineers, videographers, or others you would want to work with that you haven’t worked with yet?
HB1700 What is your creative process like?
Open up FL Studio, go through sounds, and come up with a main melody. Then, I’ll add a counter melody. Finally, I do the drums and lay out the beat.
What’s your favorite go-to order?
Cookout Tray with a double burger, Cajun wrap, and fries. Always slaps.
